Sympathomimetic drugs
Catecholamines (adrenaline, noradrenaline, dopamine) and other sympathomimetic drugs (eg dobutamine, isoprenaline) exert most of their inotropic and chronotropic effects on the myocardium via beta adrenoceptors, and the beta1-adrenoceptor subtype is responsible for most of these effects.
